To get a perfect winged eyeliner in one stroke, is every girl’s dream. Winged eyeliner, not only makes you look gorgeous but also give that ‘oomph’ factor to your look. The winged eyeliner look may seem extremely difficult to master, but with a little bit of practice and a few tips and tricks, you can easily master this look. Read on to know these amazing tips and tricks.

Use a pencil eyeliner beneath the liquid one

If you are more comfortable in working with a pencil eyeliner over a liquid one, go ahead and draw your winged eyeliner with the pencil and then overdraw it with the liquid eyeliner. This simply gives you a template to work with. This is one of the easiest and simplest ways to get the perfect flick.

Steps –

  1. Draw a rough outline of your wing with a pencil eyeliner.

  2. Use it as a layout for the liquid eyeliner to cover it.

  3. Take some makeup remover/concealer on a flat, thin brush to remove any residue from the pencil eyeliner.

Start from the other end

Generally, while applying eyeliner we tend to begin from the inner corner of our eye and then move towards the outer corner. But, to make things easier and faster, start applying your eyeliner from the outer end. This gives you much more control over where you want your wing to go.

Steps –

  1. Decide where you want the wing of your eyeliner to end.

  2. Draw the wing from that point and make it meet the outer corner of your eye.

  3. Apply the eyeliner over your upper lash line.

  4. Join both the parts of the eyeliner to get a flawless look.

Take support for your arm

A major problem that girls face while applying a winged eyeliner is shaking hands. Take some kind of support to stable your hand. The wall beside your mirror is the perfect option if you have a wall mirror. Rest your elbow on the wall and lean in towards the mirror. This solves dual purpose, first it allows you to be nearer to the mirror, so your eyeliner can be more precise and second, it gives a firm support to your arm which makes it easy to apply the eyeliner. Another way to take support is to sit on a chair and place your mirror on a table. Place your elbow on the table rather than leaving it in the air.

Use a spoon

Using kitchen utensils outside kitchen is in the trend these days. So, why not try and make our eye look perfect using a simple tool – spoon. All you have to do is place it against your eyes and VOILA! You get the perfect wing.

Steps –

  1. Place the spoon against your eye.

  2. Decide the position and angle of your wing.

  3. Taking your eyeliner, outline the side of the spoon from the outer corner of your eye to the point of the wing.

  4. Apply the eyeliner over your upper lash line.

Eye Shadow as the template

Just like a pencil eyeliner, you can use a dark shade of eyeshadow to draw a basic layout of the shape of your wing and then fill it in with the liquid product. Once again, the eyeshadow makes it easy to follow the desired shape and makes the task less daunting.

Do both eyes simultaneously

You may have applied the perfect eyeliner on both your eyes but the moment you realize that the look you achieved is completely different on the two sides of your face, all your hard work goes down the drain. To prevent this from happening, apply the liner simultaneously on both eyes. Make small strokes of the eyeliner on one eye and try to copy the same strokes on the other. This will not only help you in achieving the same look on both eyes but also give you a spoke to rectify your mistakes without removing your whole makeup.

Connect the dots

Everyone has played connect the dots in their childhood. You get another chance to play the fun game but this time on your eyelids. This is a super simple way of getting that perfect wing.

Steps –

  1. Dot your lids with the eyeliner.

  2. Let the dots take the shape of the winged eyeliner look you want to achieve.

  3. Gradually start connecting the dots to one another to complete the look.

Use a concealer to sharpen your wing (or when you mess up)

Concealer is the perfect thing to use when you want to sharpen your liner. Using a thin, flat brush, take some concealer and rectify any smudges or irregularities you see in your liner. This works wonders even when you mess up your liner. No need to remove all the makeup around your eyes when you can easily use a concealer to solve your problem.
